MONGOLIA

The land best known for Ghengis Khan is a place where wild horses still gallop across the great Steppes and travel feels like going back in time. A trip to Mongolia is well worth the effort, as the experiences that await are like nowhere else on earth. One of Asia’s last remaining truly unspoiled travel destinations, this is a photographic land of endless blue skies and rolling Steppes, of the vast Gobi Desert dotted with traditional white felt tents representing the still nomadic lifestyle of many Mongolians and of Siberian forests, crystal clear, fish-filled lakes and towering snow capped mountains. Highlights of any visit include exploring the intriguing capital of Ulaan Baatar, home to museums and monasteries, riding a horse across the plains, and camping under the stars in the desert, a place where light pollution does not exist.
