SRI LANKA

Sri Lanka – Once completely off the tourist map, today Sri Lanka is getting a lot of press as the hot new undiscovered travel destination. That’s because the island nation in the Indian Ocean south of India is safe, easy to travel around and home to a wonderful mix of adventures, not to mention the world’s oldest living tree. There are picture perfect white sand and turquoise water beaches as well as world-class dive sites off shore. And a lush, hilly interior comprised of thick rainforest, tea plantations and excellent trekking. There are even options for wildlife safaris in the national parks where elephants, leopards and water buffaloes still roam. Anthropologists and history buffs will be impressed by the myriad of ancient temples, including eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites protecting the country’s 2,000-plus-years of history. All this in a small land package that is easy to traverse.
